More Space and Quicker Handling
Cantilever racks for the timber trade
Lalliard Bois is one of the largest timber merchants in the Savoyen region. In order to expand its storage capacity at its site in Saint Pierre en Faucigny, the French company installed a 65 meter long, multi-aisle rack facility from OHRA. On the one side, the 6.6 meter high cantilever racks enable an optimal use of the storage space, while on the other, access to the stored wood articles is quick and simple.
At a total of five sites Lalliard Bois offers a complete range of wood products for construction and renovation work. The new wood warehouse primarily contains raw wood and semi-finished products for doors and windows. This is designed to both make optimal use of the existing storage space as well as provide quicker access to the articles using Side loading forklifts.
The company thus decided to equip its warehouse with cantilever racks from OHRA:
The manufacturer, with headquarters in Kerpen, Germany, has specialised in rack systems for the timber trade. The special feature of OHRA’s cantilever racks are the individual arms which are clipped into the columns on a 100mm pitch, instead of being bolted. This allows the cantilever arms to be quickly adjusted to the changing dimensions of the materials to be stored without the use of tools.
All the load-bearing components of the OHRA racks are manufactured from solid-walled, hot-rolled standard structural steel. Thanks to this slim construction a high storage capacity can be achieved across a small floor space. Furthermore, this enables greater storage heights with greater load bearing capacity. Thus, the columns of the single and double-sided cantilever racks at Lalliard are 6.6 meters high, with the top storage level situated at a height of 6 meters. The lowest two levels are fitted with galvanised gratings to produce a continuous storage area without any disrupting supports. Furthermore, the racking is equipped with a guide rail connected directly to the bases of the cantilever racks, enabling the side-loading forklifts to pass safely through the 2.6 meter wide rack aisles.
The entire rack facility was installed by OHRA in just three weeks to meet the tight time schedule specified by the general contractor.
