The available space in the existing warehouse was no longer sufficient for the storage of the up to 13 meter long solid construction timber profiles. Thus NEMA decided to install an additional 250 cubic meters of warehouse capacity, to be used for the storage of wood products for the manufacture of prefabricated houses. The company placed special importance on easy access to the materials.
Thus a decision was made in favour of cantilever racks from OHRA. All the load-bearing components of the OHRA racks are manufactured from solid-walled, hot-rolled standard structural steel. This enables greater storage heights with greater load bearing capacity. Furthermore, the individual arms of the cantilever racks are hung into a 1,000 millimetre grid, and not bolted, enabling them to be quickly adjusted to the changing dimensions of the articles without the use of tools.
A further advantage of the rack system is that the stable rack stands can simultaneously be used as supports for a roof construction. NEMA thus chose an alternative to the considerably more expensive storage tent, with the rack warehouse employing OHRA racks costing around 40 percent less than a corresponding tent construction. 5 meter high cantilever racks with four storage levels and a total length of over 25 meters were employed which are operated using a fork-lift truck.
