Less damage of the stored goods

The French timber trading company Gedimat Laboissiere has significantly expanded its storage capacity for sheet materials with a new rack-clad warehouse. OHRA cantilever racks not only serve as a support for the hall structure but also reduce damage to the stored sheet materials thanks to their hook on arm connection.

Based in Blois near Orleans, the company supplies commercial and residential customers with wood and wood materials. Growing demand called for the construction of new storage capacity for melamine-coated and untreated sheet materials. Since Laboissiere had already equipped warehouses with racks from OHRA, the European market leader for cantilever racks was also commissioned with the construction of the new warehouse for panels. The suggestion to construct the warehouse as a rack-clad warehouse was convincing: The sturdy racking uprights made of hot-rolled steel serve as a load-bearing structure for both the pent roof and the walls. Thanks to the free-standing warehouse, it was possible for a specific storage area for sheet materials to be created quickly and inexpensively, without disturbing the business operations of the company.

Thus, a 38-meter-long warehouse was created, whose outer walls each consist of a one-sided cantilever rack. In addition, a double-sided cantilever rack was placed centrally between these two racks. Guide rails allow the use of a multidirectional side-loading forklift in narrow aisles. By means of individually tailored racks of 5.5 meters, 6.3 metres and 7.1 meters height, it was possible for the hall to be optimally adapted to the environment. Each of the 1,850 mm long arms can carry a load of up to 600 kilograms. The arms are not bolted or welded, but are flexibly suspended in a 100-millimeter grid on the rack stand. Thus, they are able to give way when impacted.

Thanks to the new rack-clad warehouse, Gedimat Laboissiere could significantly increase its storage capacity for sheet materials, while at the same time significantly reducing damage to the stored goods caused by handling. The customers of the French timber trading company can thus benefit from an even wider range of high-quality products.
