Six trucks full of steel

Trendhout's new logistics centre in Hattemerbroek in the Netherlands has significantly increased storage capacity and improved logistics efficiency. The manufacturer of exclusive garden buildings opted for racking systems from OHRA. The heavy-duty racking specialist installed a steel volume of six fully loaded trucks in just two weeks - resulting in a racking system with 390 meters of cantilever racking and storage space for 1,422 pallets.

More Efficiency and Capacity Required
Until then, the stock items - canopies, garden sheds, windows and doors through to sliding glass walls and construction timber - were stored in decentralized locations. Picking was correspondingly time-consuming and labour-intensive, and storage also took up a relatively large area due to the low height of the previous racking. However, the efficiency and storage capacity of the previous warehouses had reached their limits in view of Trendhout's positive business development. The company therefore decided to build a new logistics centre in Hattemerbroek.

Customized System Layout
Trendhout commissioned OHRA, one of the European market leaders for heavy-duty racking for more than 40 years, to implement the racking system for the new logistics centre. OHRA's logistics experts worked closely with Trendhout to develop a layout that created as much storage capacity as possible on the available space. The result was a combination of cantilever and pallet racking.

High Floor Space Utilization
The narrow-aisle design ensures a high degree of space utilization, while guide rails on the rack bases make it easy to manoeuvre the forklift trucks in the aisles. Thanks to the high-performance construction made of solid, hot-rolled steel profiles, the racks can also be used to make full use of the room height: The pallet racks reach a height of 6,600 millimetres, the cantilever racks 6,080 millimetres.

Fit for Further Growth
Trendhout is now fit for further growth with the new racking system: Significantly more storage capacity is available, the efficiency and time required for order picking have been considerably improved, stock levels are now organized and clear, and delivery reliability has increased.
