Vehicles are bulky, oddly-shaped and heavy, and storing them on the ground, the go-to solution for many smaller Irish recyclers, takes up incredible amounts of floor space and makes accessing a single vehicle difficult – even impossible – since you can only access it by moving all the surrounding vehicles.

Triple Your Vehicle Storage in the Same Space
While the space savings are theoretical for most racked storage products, they become obvious once you compare standard ground-stacked storage with rack storage. 18 cars stored on the ground require roughly 146 square meters of floor space, with no direct access to each vehicle and an inability to retrieve one vehicle without having to move all the surrounding vehicles first.
18 cars on OHRA vehicle storage racks, meanwhile, require only 48 square meters of floor space – less than a third of what ground stacked storage requires – but still giving you the ability to access every single car individually with ease. For Irish recyclers that operate on tight urban or industrial estate sites, where expanding the yard is either too expensive or outright impossible, rack storage is the only solution to increasing your business.
Cantilever racking
OHRA vehicle storage rack frames are constructed from hot-rolled IPE steel profiles, just like every other kind of OHRA cantilever storage. That means they are highly resistant to deformation under heavy loads and capable of safely storing vehicles in a manner that prevents any kind of accidents.

Pallet racking

Engines and gear boxes – the two heaviest components – will put a heavy load on your racks. At Legalny Autozłom, there is now room for twice as many vehicles in the same space as with the previous floor storage. In addition, the storage system now allows direct access to individual vehicles and creates more order in the storage area overall.
Rubio Careco
The French car recycler Rubio Caréco has increased its storage capacities for end-of-life vehicles fivefold on the existing area with a new racking system from OHRA. 108 newly installed double-sided cantilever racks offer a load capacity of up to 2,200 kilograms per storage level per side. With a racking height of 7,600 millimetres, five storage levels were achieved. Thus, instead of 216 cars, 1080 can now be stored in the same space - and much more safely and efficiently than in the old floor storage.
