Timber storage solutions
High-volume timber and panel storage built for throughput — designed around your stock range, not adapted from a generic warehouse system

Holding timber at trade volumes requires a very different set of solutions to holding it in a small workshop. Irish sawmills, timber and panel distributors are dealing with an extensive range of species, grades, lengths and panel types at once, with constant flow of stock in and out, quick order fulfilment for their customers and one thing that never changes: keeping timber dry and undamaged despite all the challenges.
As an Irish timber distributor yourself, you understand what you need in terms of warehouse equipment, but did you know that OHRA has been designing specially tailored timber and panel storage systems for almost 40 years?
For Irish timber merchants and panel distributors who wish to increase their capacity, improve order accuracy or simply streamline an oversized warehouse, our industry experience will give the kickstart.
Storage racks for timber
Our Irish shelving systems, such as our cantilever racks or mobile shelving for timber storage, impress with their robust design and high flexibility. They maximize storage capability, protect your goods from damage and offer optimum solutions for indoor and outdoor areas.
Cantilever Racking for Timber and Panel Stockholding
Long, bulky, difficult or awkward materials such as timber packages, solid wood, composite boards and panels require cantilever racking when stored at trade volumes. OHRA cantilever racking uses solid and hot rolled steel throughout for all uprights and arms, providing stability of structure required for intensive usage in a busy warehouse environment.
Patented boltless slot-in arms can be relocated in seconds in case of changing demands for different stock. Cantilever arms have a 20-degree incline angle and a maximum weight capacity up to 800kg per arm, making it ideal for easy loading by forklift or crane, with no damage to racking and materials.
Key advantages:
- Solid, hot-rolled IPE steel for uprights and arms, no cavities in the structure
- Patented boltless slot-in arms, relocatable in seconds as per changing demands
- Inclined at 20-degrees angle, maximum weight capacity of 800 kg per arm
- Uprights punched on a 100mm grid on both sides
- Roof, rear wall, and guttering included in the set for outdoor installations
- Hot dip galvanised surface finish or powder coating, depending on installation environment
Manufactured to order and delivered as per stock range, with delivery and assembly included.

Pallet Racking for Packaged and Palletised Stock
Along with storage of bulk timber packages, Irish timber merchants need to store significant volumes of packaged or palletised goods, including mouldings, flooring and hardware. As opposed to standard light-gauge systems, OHRA pallet racking built with hot-rolled steel provides reliable support at any quantity.
OHRA pallet racking design includes wider bays in comparison with other manufacturers, which means fewer supporting elements and greater ease of installation. The maximum load of 32,000 kg per bay and 5,100 kg per beam is sufficient for storing various types of pallets required for an Irish timber merchant's business, with standard beam length being 4,500 mm.
Vertical Racking for Boards Feeding Direct to Cutting
Chipboard, MDF and other panel products, intended for cutting and processing straight away, require efficient and safe storage system. Vertical racking system offered by OHRA offers such solution. Sheets are stored vertically in individual bays with high-quality roller conveyors positioned in front of the bay. Separating brackets allow for subdivision into sub-bays, and additional separators provide flexibility in stock management.
Vertical racks offered by OHRA may vary according to the desired purpose of use, ranging from a regular industrial application to storage and exhibition for end consumers. You can choose a colour and design according to your personal preferences and needs of your warehouse.

Automated Storage for High-Throughput Operations
For large Irish timber merchants and distributors, automated storage systems (manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic) offer superior efficiency and accuracy of picking compared to manual handling. Working on the goods-to-person principle, an automated system retrieves complete packages or individual panels and brings them to a transfer station. The storage and retrieval machine is able to serve several aisles automatically.
The system integrates into your existing ERP software, and automation degree is fully adjustable according to the actual requirement. In other words, you can change from semi-automatic picking to fully automated system and vice versa if necessary.
Key advantages:
- Maximum picking turnover rate for highly productive operations
- Fully adjustable degree of automation from manual to fully automatic
- Ability to serve several aisles with a single machine
- Easy integration with ERP software via standard modules
- Greater long-term cost saving compared to the same performance by manual labour
