OHRA Ireland mezzanine floors

Double your usable floor area without extending your building

Mezzanine floors

When a warehouse runs out of usable floor space, the instinctive response is to look for a larger building, extend the existing one, or accept that operational capacity has reached its limit. In many cases, none of those options is necessary — because the answer is already available overhead.

If your building has sufficient ceiling height — and a large proportion of Irish industrial units built since the 1980s do — a mezzanine floor can effectively double your usable storage or operational area within the same four walls and the same footprint, without planning permission in most cases, and at a fraction of the cost of a building extension.

OHRA mezzanine floors are self-supporting steel structures, individually designed to suit your building dimensions, your floor loading requirements, and how you intend to use the additional level. They're not a standard product adjusted to fit — every installation is designed from your building's column positions, ceiling height, and intended use outward, and the structural calculation is carried out specifically for your project.

We design, manufacture, supply, and install mezzanine floors across Ireland — covering the full range from straightforward single-level storage platforms in smaller warehouse units to multi-level structures with integrated conveyor systems, picking stations, and office accommodation in large distribution facilities.

As part of the expansion of production capacities for the processing of sugar beet seed at the Einbeck site, the seed specialist KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA commissioned the company OHRA to build a storage area in which the seed is stored under climate-controlled conditions. The pallet rack supplied by the Kerpen-based storage technology specialists offers space for approx.100 special seed containers. The plant also includes a steel construction platform on which the seeds are filled into the storage boxes automatically via a tipping device. The platform and racking are enclosed and form a covered unit so that the containers weighing up to 600 kilograms can be transported directly from the tipping station to the storage location in the racking using a stacker crane.
