Faster logistics processes

The building materials and tiles wholesaler Dieker & Voss, based in Gescher in the Münsterland region, has systematically modernised it’s warehouse logistics through extensive investments in modern racking systems from OHRA. Over a period of two years, the entire warehouse was gradually renewed, with cantilever and pallet racking systems creating efficient storage facilities for both indoor and outdoor areas. The result - significantly faster processes and a noticeably higher stock turnover.

Efficient structures for the warehouse

Whether building materials, timber or tiles – Dieker & Voss offers everything for new builds, renovations and gardening and landscaping projects, serving both trade professionals and private builders. Initially, many goods were stored without a racking system, resulting in high space requirements and slower stock turnover. The company therefore began comprehensively modernising its warehouse in 2020. A new warehouse was built and the outdoor storage area was reorganised with racking systems.

High load-bearing capacities

OHRA supplied the complete racking system, including installation. For example, the heated storage area in the new hall was equipped with two heavy-duty pallet racking systems which, at a height of 7,500 millimetres, provide a shelf load capacity of 4,500 kilograms and a bay load capacity of 22,500 kilograms. In the outdoor area, hot-dip galvanised cantilever and pallet racking systems with or without roofs were installed. Here too, the high load-bearing capacities of the racking systems made from solid-web, hot-rolled IPE steel sections also offer high load-bearing capacities. For example, at a height of 7,400 millimetres (with a roof), the pallet racking systems have a bay load of 22,500 kilograms, while the 7,100 millimetre high pallet racking systems without a roof can accommodate a bay load of up to 25,500 kilograms. Dieker & Voss had all rack positions fitted with mesh decking. This not only provides greater flexibility when storing different types of goods, but above all serves as fall-through protection – meaning that even damaged pallets can be safely and quickly stored and retrieved.

Multiple benefits

Dieker & Voss invested a total of more than €750,000 in modernising its warehouse. The company particularly values the continuous support provided by a dedicated contact person at OHRA throughout the entire project. The result is a customised storage solution that now ensures higher stock turnover, easier management, less damage and more efficient processes overall. However, the modernisation process is not yet complete – further joint projects with OHRA to optimise warehouse logistics and future-proof the entire site are already planned.
